Patricia Ann. “Pat” Jacobson, 69, passed away peacefully at her home in Hawkeye surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 29, 2013, after a struggle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union with Rev. David Grant officiating. Interment will follow at West Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the church on Wednesday.
Patricia Ann, daughter of Clarence and Lovina (Beltz) Schulte, was born August 26, 1943, at Des Moines, Iowa. She attended Catholic School in Carroll, Iowa before attending high school in Arlington, Iowa. On November 6, 1960, she was married to Carl Loomis at the Catholic Church in Volga, Iowa. They were blessed with six children; Kevin, Bill, Rodger, Eddie, Keith, and Carla. On June 17, 1989, she was united in marriage with Eugene A. “John” Jacobson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. In addition to her duties as a homemaker, Pat was employed as a telephone switchboard operator, a bartender and cook, and on May 2, 1992, she and her husband, John purchased PJ’s in Hawkeye, which they operated for over ten years. Pat finally retired in 2005. Pat was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in West Union. She thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing, dancing, cooking, and especially enjoyed her companion, “cocoa”.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kevin (Marlene “Marty”) Loomis of Postville, William “Bill” (Jackie) Loomis of Hawkeye, Keith Loomis of Fredericksburg, Eddie Loomis of Hawkeye, Carla Engelhardt (Keith Kleve) of Waucoma; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister, Katherine “Kathy” (Frank) Watterson of Tucson, Arizona; one brother, William “Bill” (Margaret) Duffy of Houston, Texas; three step children, Nancy Jacobson, Lori Johanson, and Bart Jacobson; three step grandchildren; as well as too many loving relatives and close friends to mention. Family and friends were Pat’s passion and delight.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Jacobson on August 13, 2001; her son, Rodger Loomis in June of 2000; one grandson, Chad Matherly in June of 2012; her parents; and special friend, Kenna Helgerson McFarlane.
